Burundi is a small country just below the equator, to the northeast of Tanganyika lake. The climate is tropical, but due to its mountainous landscape it is not scorching hot. It is also not an extremely humid country. The average annual temperature is around 29 °C. In the mountains it is cooler. Burundi has no clear summer and winter seasons. There is however a dry season which is short and runs from June to August, making this the best time to travel.
