The climate in Congo - Kinshasa
The equator runs through the centre of the Democratic Republic of Congo, also known as Congo-Kinshasa. The country was formerly known as Zaire. It has a tropical climate. It is hot and humid and it rains a lot. A third of the country lies above the equator. Here the dry season runs from December to February. The southern part has its dry season between April and September, when the sun’s heat is more concentrated in the northern hemisphere. The north is altogether drier than the south. Around the equator it actually rains most of the time. This is where the tropical rainforest is situated.
