The climate in Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a large country sandwiched between the Tropic of Cancer and the equator. The country is very mountainous and only has a tropical climate on its western plains. Here, in the hottest months, February to May, the temperature can reach 40 °C. The rest of the country is generally a lot cooler. This is particularly true for the central area containing the Ethiopian Highlands. The rainy season runs from June to September. Most rain falls in the mountains. The best time to travel is from late September to the end of February.
