The climate in Madagascar
The island of Madagascar is located in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Mozambique. The climate is very diverse and is partly influenced by the characteristic mountain ridge that runs from north to south. The south-east winds ensure there is much precipitation all year round on the east side of the mountain range. Here are also the tropical rainforests. It is warmest from December to March (30 °C). In this period you should beware of cyclones. On the west side of the ridge it is considerably drier. From April to October is the driest and thus the best travel period. The south-west has a savannah climate: hot and dry.
