The climate in Mauritania
In Mauritania, on the Atlantic coast of north-west Africa, it is really just hot and dry. Two-thirds of the country consists of desert. In the south and along the west coast there is still a hint of greenery. There, is also the most precipitation. However this doesn’t amount to much. From December to March it is still bearable, with an average daytime temperature of 30 °C and a cooling breeze in the evening. In the other months it is simply scorching: 40 °C is quite common. On the other hand, it can sometimes cool-off to below zero at night in the desert.
