The climate in Mauritius
Mauritius is a small volcanic island which is part of the Mascarene archipelago. The island lies in the Indian Ocean, 800 km east of Madagascar – and thus far removed from the African continent. The climate is tropical. It rains all year round. Most precipitation falls between December and April: on average 200 mm per month. It is then also warmest with temperatures between 25 and 35 °C. The cyclone season runs from November to February. The best time to visit the island is from June to October, when the thermometer shows an average temperature of 25 °C.
