The climate in South Africa
South Africa has a climate that is ideal for travellers: it can be visited all year round. The summer in the southern hemisphere, where South Africa is situated, runs from December to February. This is also the season with most rainfall. However, the country is definitely not wet. In and around Cape Town, on the southwest coast, it is dry in summer. Summers are pleasantly warm 25 °C on the coast and 30 °C inland. The western part, with the Kalahari desert is the warmest (35 °C). In winter, June to September, the mercury drops to 20 °C. On the south-west coast it is then even cooler.
