The climate in Sudan

For Sudan, the further north you go the more desert sand there is, with less rain and higher temperatures. The hot period in the Sahara desert runs from April to October. It is then continuously 40 °C or warmer. The centre and south have a subtropical climate. [This applies specifically for the autonomous region of Southern Sudan, in anticipation of independence.] The far south is marshland. There the rainy season runs from May to September. In the central area the rainy season begins later, in July. The daytime temperature then averages 30 to 35 °C and is regarded as being 'cool'. It is hot is from April to June. Best travel time is from October through March.
