The climate in Armenia

Armenia, a small country north-east of Turkey, has for the most part a continental climate: warm summers and cold winters. The country is very mountainous. In the higher altitudes in the winter the mercury drops to-30 °C. However it is also gets cold in the low areas: in the famous Ararat valley it freezes for more than 100 days per year. Most precipitation falls in the spring. The country is dry, except for the far south, where a subtropical climate prevails. Also in winter, when the rest of Armenia is having a tough time, the weather in the south is pleasant.
