The climate in Guatemala
Guatemala, which borders Mexico and is often referred to as the most stunning country in Central America due to its beautiful natural scenery (rainforest and Lakes) and culture (Maya), is located in the tropical zone. On the coast the climate is indeed tropical. It is humid and hot. The rainy season runs from May to November. In the highlands in central Guatemala the temperature is, depending on the elevation, 5 to 10 degrees lower than at the coast. At night it may even freeze. The north, the Péten region, is very wet. From February to April is the least precipitation. In March and April is very hot.
