The climate in Jamaica
The laid-back island of Jamaica is located in the Caribbean Sea, just south of Cuba. The climate is tropical. On the coast the temperature fluctuates throughout the year between 27 and 32 °C. The north coast is cooled by the trade winds. High in the mountains (up to 2,300 metres) with an average of 6 °C it is considerably cooler. Most precipitation falls in May and June and September to November. The latter period is also hurricane season. The north coast is wetter than the south coast. December to April is the best travel time as it is cooler and dry. During the summer holiday July is the best month for a visit.
