The climate in Sweden

The rule in Sweden is the further north you go the colder it gets. In Götaland, in the south, the influence of the moderating Baltic Sea is clearly noticeable. Winters are less severe there compared to other areas at the same latitude. During the day in the south it remains on average one degree above freezing. Right up in the north it freezes in the daytime, on average, more than 10 degrees. The centre and north of Sweden are hidden behind mountains. East of these it is remarkably dry and in summertime sunny, this is because little cloud makes it over the mountains and the days are long. In the centre and south the average temperature is 20 °C. In the north, 5 degrees cooler.
